Cultural precincts are created at a local government level but, at present, in the absence of suitable performance indicators that assess performance in a consistent and objective manner. A cultural precinct is a clearly defined geographical area that contains facilities and services related to artistic and intellectual activity. Rising costs, increasing community expectations, ageing infrastructure coupled with limited opportunity for income growth means local government must generate new ways of working in order to develop and improve their cultural precincts. ![]()
